Overview

SoumSoum is a Mediterranean gem nestled in the heart of Paris’s 11th arrondissement, specifically at 144 Bd Voltaire. This vibrant eatery offers a distinct taste of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors, crafted with both tradition and a modern twist. The menu showcases a well-curated selection of dishes that cater to diverse palates, from the hearty Sabih sandwich to the richly spiced Shakshuka Royale.

The highlight here is undoubtedly the balance between authentic flavors and contemporary plating. Signature dishes like the Assiette Veggie stand out for their variety and freshness, delivering an array of vegetables, tahini, and zaatar that create a harmonious experience for vegetarians and health-conscious diners alike. The Shakshuka, whether the classic egg and tomato stew or the more indulgent version with meat or fish, reflects the kitchen’s mastery of blending spices and textures.

SoumSoum’s location is ideal for those exploring Paris beyond the traditional tourist routes, drawing in locals and travelers who seek genuine Mediterranean cuisine without compromise. The atmosphere is casual yet lively, infused with energy, though some visitors have noted the music volume can disrupt the sense of relaxation one hopes for during a meal.

The restaurant’s space is functional, favoring an informal and communal dining experience over formality. This environment suits a broad audience—from solo diners and couples to groups eager to share plates and discover new tastes. While the service is consistently praised for its warmth and attentiveness, there are occasional remarks about minor discomforts like indoor temperature and pricing nuances, which slightly temper the overall experience.

What truly sets SoumSoum apart is its ability to evoke memories of home for those familiar with Middle Eastern fare, while also inviting the uninitiated into a world of aromatic herbs, roasted aubergines, fresh salads, and robust meat dishes. It’s a spot where the culinary journey is as much about connection and culture as it is about flavor. Whether you indulge in the rich egg salad, savor the smoky notes of the Aubergine Baladi, or enjoy the comforting layers of a pita sandwich, SoumSoum offers a sincere and flavorful Mediterranean escape in the heart of Paris.

We had a delicious late lunch here in our first day in Paris. Everything was so aromatic and delicious, far from what you find where we come from. The place was very cold however, even though we stayed inside and this made the experience not so pleasant. Otherwise don't hesitate to taste their specialties.

Food was amazing! As starters I had the truffle mushrooms and as a main dish the meat Shakshouka, both delicious. Staff is friendly and very welcoming. Would definitely come back!

We had a veggie plate and the kebab plate. I really loved the veggie plate because there are bit of everything. For the kebab plate, we’d have loved a bit more houmous and the meat was a bit dry. The food was overall good, but it’s not cheap. 6 euro for a small bottle of water was not an honest price, since this is not a club or anything. What I didn’t like was the fact that they were blasting a dance music. Shame I could have enjoyed the food more if it was a bit more relaxing music.
